celahkotaNEWS.com || Presiden UFC Dana White menegaskan Khabib Nurmagomedov tidak akan bertanding hingga menyelesaikan masa hukuman yang sejalan dengan ibadah puasa Ramadan yang dijalani petarung asal Rusia itu.
Saat ini Khabib masih menjalani larangan tarung selama sembilan bulan yang merupakan hukuman atas kericuhan pasca laga UFC 229 pada Oktober 2018.
White memastikan sang juara dunia kelas ringan itu akan kembali tampil pada September. Pengusaha asal Amerika Serikat itu menyebut hukuman Khabib sesuai dengan keyakinan yang dianut Khabib.
“Dia akan kembali pada September. Itu sejalan dengan dia, dia masih dalam masa hukuman dan dia tidak bertanding selama Ramadan. Itu membuatnya akan tampil pada September,” kata White dikutip dari Sportbible.
Aksi saling serang usai pertarungan UFC 229 membuat Khabib dijatuhi hukuman larangan naik ring selama sembilan bulan. Hukuman yang mulai dihitung sejak 6 Oktober 2018, atau pada tanggal laga UFC 229, membuat Khabib tak bisa bertarung hingga Juli 2019.
Sementara puasa Ramadan pada 2019 akan dimulai pada awal Mei hingga Juni.
Petarung berjuluk The Eagle itu juga sempat menolak bertanding pada saat Ramadan pada 2014 dan 2016. Pada 2014, Khabib membatalkan pertarungan dengan Donald Cerrone sementara dua tahun berikutnya Khabib memilih tidak menjalani pertarungan UFC 200.
Khabib merupakan petarung yang cukup taat menjalani ajaran agama dalam kehidupan keseharian, termasuk ketika menjalani ibadah puasa.
“Olahraga memang hal yang berbeda, namun Ramadan bagi saya tetap nomor satu. Ramadan ada di level yang berbeda. Ini segalanya bagi saya. Saya tak bisa bertarung di bulan Ramadan,” ucap Khabib seperti dikutip dari Bloody Elbow beberapa waktu lalu.
Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan Los Angeles Time, Khabib juga menjelaskan ibadah dapat memperkuat mental dalam menjalani kehidupan. Dengan landasan agama pula, petarung tak terkalahkan di arena Oktagon itu mengungkap pilihan hidup untuk tidak melakukan hal kontroversial di luar ring. (nva/bac/g)
