Seni Bela Diri Pencak Silat Ternyata diminati Banyak Warga Mesir

Meski tidak terlampau populer di negeri sendiri, seni bela diri pencak silat  ternyata diminati banyak warga Mesir,  terutama pelajar dan kaum perempuan.
Di jantung Kota Kairo, jurus-jurus pencak silat ternyata telah menolong banyak perempuan Mesir untuk belajar membela diri sendiri dari risiko kekerasan dan pelecehan.

Sekitar 1.200 perempuan dan anak-anak mengikuti kursus pencak silat di pusat kebudayaan Indonesia di Kairo.
Berdasarkan jajak pendapat ahli oleh Thomson Reuters Foundation pada 2017, Kairo dinobatkan sebagai kota paling berbahaya bagi perempuan. Kesimpulan itu berdasarkan dari minimnya perlindungan atas kekerasan seksual, praktik budaya yang berisiko, hingga keterbatasan akses terhadap fasilitas kesehatan bagi kaum perempuan Mesir.

Perempuan Mesir juga kerap menerima pelecehan secara verbal atau cat-calling di tempat publik.

“Tentu saja selalu ada masalah di jalanan. Jika seseorang berani mendekati saya, saya bisa untuk membela diri sendiri dengan baik. Saya merasa percaya diri sekarang. Tidak ada seorang pun yang bisa mengganggu saya karena saya bisa melawan mereka,” kata Rahma Hatem, salah satu murid perguruan silat KBRI.

Kepada CNNIndonesia.com, Duta Besar RI untuk Mesir, Helmy Fauzy, menuturkan kursus tersebut resmi dibuka pada Februari 2011. Helmy mengatakan tujuan KBRI Kairo membuka pelatihan silat adalah untuk mengenalkan budaya Indonesia dari aspek olahraga bela diri.

“Selama ini, bela diri yang ada di Mesir sudah cukup banyak, namun belum ada silat. Tujuan (membuka kurus silat) agar silat sebagai bagian dari budaya Indonesia dapat dikenal oleh masyarakat Mesir,” kata Helmy melalui pernyataan pada Selasa (25/6).

Selain mengenalkan budaya, Helmy juga mengatakan kursus pencak silat bisa jadi salah satu sarana diplomasi budaya Indonesia di Mesir. KBRI, paparnya, bahkan telah menggelar sejumlah pentas seni bela diri di berbagai provinsi di Mesir.

Helmy menuturkan saat ini terdapat lebih dari 700 siswa yang belajar di dua perguruan silat. Sebanyak 500 siswa belajar di Perguruan Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah, sementara sisanya belajar di Perguruan Telago Biru.
Helmy mengatakan seluruh pengajar silat merupakan mahasiswa Indonesia yang tengah menempuh studi di Universitas Al-Azhar dan kebetulan menguasai bela diri silat.

“Mereka ini (pelajar Indonesia) kami minta bantuan untuk memberikan pengajaran silat kepada orang Mesir,” kata Helmy.Salah satu pelatih silat, Roqaya Samaloosi, mengatakan pencak silat mulai dikenal di Mesir sejak 2003 lalu, tetapi popularitasnya meningkat secara signifikan pada 2011.

Dikutip Reuters, para wanita yang kebanyakan adalah remaja berkumpul di Pusat Kebudayaan Indonesia setiap hari Minggu untuk berlatih silat.

Roqaya menuturkan selain melatih kebugaran dan pertahanan diri, pencak silat juga mengajarkan aspek disiplin dan fokus.(cnnindonosia.com)
