Innalillahwainnailaihirojiun. Telah berpulang ke rahmatullah Wakil Walikota Dumai, Bpk Amris, S. Sy. Pada hari ini di Pekanbaru,” tulis Kabid IKP Diskominfo Kota Dumai Muhammad Sadam melalui pesan Whatsapp, Kamis (29/04/2021). sekira pukul 10.30 WIB.
Wakil Walikota Dumai periode 2021 – 2026 ini berpulang ke Rahmatullah pada Kamis, (29/04/2021) di Rumah Sakit Syafira Pekanbaru sekira pukul 10.20 WIB.
Almarhum meninggal saat dalam perawatan di RS Syafira Pekanbaru dalam usia 63 tahun. Mantan anggota DPRD Kota Dumai kelahiran Bukittinggi 29 Desember 1957, sebelumnya sempat dirawat selama sepekan lebih di RSUD Kota Dumai sejak Ahad (11/04/2021). Ini setelah dilakukan rapid test antigen dan Swab PCR dinyatakan positif terpapar Covid 19.
Amris dilantik sebagai Wakil Walikota Dumai pada tanggal 26 Februari 2021 di Balai Pelangi Komplek Rumah Dinas Gubernur Riau. Wafat 29 Aprip 2021 atau 63 hari setepah dilantik.
Almarhum juga meninggal tanggal.yang sama dengan tanggal kelahiran. Lahir 29 Desember 1957 dan wafat 29 April 2021.
Jenazah dimakamkan hari itu juga, di Taman Makam Damai Sentosa Jalan Soekarno – Hatta Kelurahan Bukit Batrem Kecamatan Dumai Timur Kota Dumai.
Pemakaman mengikuti prokes Covid 19. Dijadwalkan, dari Pekanbaru akan langsung dibawa ke TMP Damai Sentosa dengan pengawalan ketat TNI dan Polri.
Karirnya dimulai sebagai tentara yang bertugas di Batalyon infanteri 132 dan Kodim 0303 Bengkalis. Pensiun pada 2006 kemudian menjadi pengusaha dan politisi. Pada 2009-2014 ia kemudian menjadi anggota DPRD Dumai. Pada pilkada serentak Kota Dumai 2020, ia bersama H Paisal memenangi kontestasi politik lima tahunan itu.(ckn)
