Sedangkan sejumlah tokoh berharap, untuk calon Sekdako Dumai harus mampu menjalankan roda pemerintahan dengan kepala daerah yang baru dan bisa merangkul seluruh SKPD dilingkungan Pemerintah Kota Dumai.
Mengingat beberapa tahun kebelakang banyak pejabat dilingkungan Pemko Dumai yang tersangkut masalah hukum. Kemudian pelayanan publik di beberapa SKPD dalam zona merah dan kurangnya kedisiplinan aparatur pemerintah.
“Banyak pejabat di Dumai yang mampu mengemban amanah sebagai sekretaris daerah dan kalau boleh saya sarankan untuk kepala daerah yang baru agar tidak mendatangkan pejabat dari luar untuk menduduki posisi kursi nomor tiga dilingkungan Pemko Dumai. Kalau orang Dumai tentunya lebih paham dengan daerah ini, tapi kalau orang luar belum tentu paham dengan kondisi Kota Dumai,” kata Zainal Effendi, tokoh masyarakat Dumai.
Dia berharap kepada kepala daerah yang baru untuk melihat seluruh kinerja pimpinan SKPD selama enam bulan ke depan. Dengan melihat dari sekarang, tentunya kepala daerah yang baru bisa mencari sosok calon Sekko Dumai untuk membantu dalam menjalankan roda pemerintahan serta memaksimalkan program pembangunan sesuai visi dan misi yang diusung Walikota dan Wakil Walikota Dumai lima tahun ke depan.
