Mengenai tenda kapal yang terbakar dibenarkan Kasat ker Pelabuhan Domestik Sekupang Deni Setiawan.
Deni Mengatakan,ia kebetulan sedang berada diatas kapal,dan kejadian itu adalah terbakarnya kardus ayam potong.”Dugaan mungkin orang buang puntung rokok.karena terbuat dari kardus jadi cepat menyambar.satu kardus itu saja yang terbakar,”kata Deni.
Deni juga menambahkan,atas kejadian itu penumpang sempat panik,apa lagi kondisi saat itu keadaan kapal sedang berlayar di tengah laut.
“Memang sempat panik penumpangnya tadi tapai saya juga ikut menenangkan kebetulan saya berada di atas kapal tersebut saat pulang menghadiri pesta staf di selat panjang,Kepulauan meranti. Saat kejadian itu ABKnya tangkas menyiram api dengan racun api,”ujar Deni.
Sejauh itu tidak ada korban jiwa”Nggak,nggak apa-apa kok.selamat semua,kapal ngak terbakar,”kata dia.
Deni berharap,atas kejadian ini,meminta kepada penumpang agar merokok diatas kapal saat berlayar.”Kalau bisa jangan merokok lah di atas tenda kapal.ini berpotensi memicu kebakaran,”kata Deni (Ckn/Tribunbatam)
