CelahkotaNEWS.com || DUMAI – Kota Duma dimulai dari versi cerita tentang Putri Tujuh. Putri raja yang menguasai suatu kawasn Kerajaan Sri Bunga Tanjung, yang pada waktu itu diperintah oleh Ratu Cik Sima, raja perempuan yang memerintahkan kerajaan Sri Bunga Tanjung. Dia memiliki Tujuh orang Putri, dikenal dengan sebutan Putri Tujuh. Ketujuh Putri ini terkenal sangat cantik, namun yang paling cantik adalah putri bungsu, Mayang Sari namanya. keindahan dan kecantikan Mayang Sari ini memberikan satu nama lain buatnya, yaitu Mayang Mengurai.
Terbentuknya Kota Dumai
Tercatat dalam sejarah, pada era tahun 1930-an Kota Dumai merupakan sebuah dusun nelayan kecil yang terdiri atas beberapa rumah nelayan di pesisir timur Propinsi Riau.
Namum kini Kota Ini mulai menggeliat bak mutiara di pantai timur Sumatera. Sebagai mana yang kita ketahui Kota Dumai merupakan hasil pemekaran dari Kabupaten Bengkalis. Dumai dikukuhkan menjadi Kota Dumai dengan UU No. 16 tahun 1999 tanggal 20 April 1999 dimana status Dumai sebelumnya adalah Kota Administratif. Pada awal pembentukannya, Kota Dumai hanya terdiri atas 3 kecamatan, 13 kelurahan dan 9 desa dengan jumlah penduduk lebih kurang 15.699 jiwa dengan tingkat kepadatan 83,85 jiwa/km2 dimasa itu.
1.Tahun 1945 – 1959, status Dumai tercatat sebagai desa.
2.Tahun 1959 – 1963, Dumai masuk dalam wilayah Kecamatan Rupat.
3.Tahun 1963 – 1964, Dumai berpisah dari Kecamatan Rupat dan berubah status menjadi kawedanan.
4.Berdasar PP No.8 Tahun 1979 tertanggal 11 April 1979, Dumai berubah status menjadi Kota Administratif (merupakan kota administratif pertama di Sumatera dan ke-11 di Indonesia) di bawah Kabupaten Daerah Tingkat (Dati) II Bengkalis.
5.Berdasar UU No.16 Tahun 1999 tanggal 20 April 1999 (Lembaran Negara Tahun 1999 Nomor 50, tambahan Lembaran Negara Nomor 3829), Dumai berubah status menjadi Kotamadya sehingga menjadi Kotamadya Dati. II Dumai. Seiring perkembangan politik di Indonesia, berdasar UU No. 22 Tahun 1999 maka Kotamadya Dumai berubah menjadi Kota Dumai. Masa jabatan Walikota Dumai pertama dari tanggal 27 April 1999 sehingga tanggal 27 April dijadikan hari ulang tahun Kota Dumai.
Terdapat beberapa filosofis yang cukup mendasar atas peningkatan status Dumai dalam pengelolaan wilayah administrasi pemerintahan adalah untuk memperpendek rentang kendali,mempercepat tingkat pelayanan dan memperbesar peran masyarakat dalam penyelenggaraan pemerintahan,pengelolaan pembangunan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat,disamping menangkap peluang pengembangan ekonomi. Kini,Dumai yang kaya dengan minyak bumi itu, menjelma menjadi kota pelabuhan minyak yang sangat ramai sejak tahun 1999. Kapal-kapal tangki minyak raksasa setiap hari singgah dan merapat di pelabuhan ini. Kilang-kilang minyak yang tumbuh menjamur di sekitar pelabuhan menjadikan Kota Dumai pada malam hari gemerlapan bak permata berkilauan.
Dengan menuju usia Ke 19 Tahun ini Kota Dumai Semakin dikenal sejagad Raya Nusantar,Dumai dikenal denagn Kota Penjerang Minyak pengexpor minyak namun sayang ditengah melwjitnya nama kota ini masih banyak masyarakat yang terhenyak,segala persoalan masih banyak menjadi buah Bibir salah satunya terkait tenaga kerja tempat yang boleh dukatakan Sulut untuk mendapatakan pekerjaan.
Seluas mata memandang sepanjang 140 Km persegi garis pantai Dumai terbentang luas hampir sebagain bibir – bibir pantai ini dihisasi dengan berbagai merek Tangky perusahaan bertarap internasioanal kapal-kapal tengker silih berganti menunggu antrian untuk bersandar kepelabuhan.
Disisi lain Kota Dumai terbilang gemilang namum dalam pembanguan infrastruktur jalan masih menjadi keluhan masyarakat tidak heran jika kita masih banyak menjupai jalanan yang berlubang dan berlumpur di Kota terluas ini.
Beranjak lagi kita daerah paling sudut dinegeri penjerang minyak ini masih ada kita menjumpai jalan masyarakat yang tidak tersentuh satu butir kerikil pun dan dioerparah lagi belum adanya penerangan listrik sebut saja daerahnya salah satu Kelurahan Batu Teritib Kecamatan Sungai Sembilan,tentunya dengan memasuki usia yang sudah dewasa ini Pemerintah kota Dumai lebih Berpikir secara Arif dan bijak sana dalam hal mencari silusi untuk Pembangunan Kota Puteri Tujuh ini.
Kota Dumai dalam Dengan empat kawasan industerinya memainkan peranannya yang strategis yaitu Kawasan Industri Pelintung, Kawasan Industri Lubuk gaung, Kawasan Industri Dock Yard, Kawasan Industri Bukit Kapur. Salah satu kawasan inidustri ini telah menjadi kawasan industri yang paling pesat kemajuannya di Propinsi Riau yakni kawasan industri Pelintung.
Hari ini Dumai sudah sangat jauh berbeda dari Dumai daribtahun ketahun yang lalu, apa lagi dengan Dumai 19 tahun yang lalu. Hari ini kita bicara ke dunia yang baru yaitu Sebuah Kota. Kita tidak lagi berbicara kemunduran dan ketertinggalan,namun hal terpenting masa lalu lalu adalah unyuk pebandingan melecut semangat me jadikan kota ini sebagai kota yang maju.
